GLOBAL AFRICAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION CONDEMNS THE RECENT ACTIONS OF THE NIGERIAN MILITARY KILLING PEACEFUL PROTESTORS IN LAGOS, NIGERIA

ROMULUS, MICHIGAN (OCTOBER 21, 2020) – The Global African Business Association condemns the actions of the Nigerian Military killing peaceful protestors in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. .

“The Global African Business Association (GABA) stands with our young adults in the #ENDSARS movement in Nigeria. Make no mistake, we support and will continue to develop solutions from a GABA perspective to share and execute with our stakeholders to protect our young adults and give them the necessary platform needed to express their concerns over the failure of the Nigerian Government. The time for police brutality in Nigeria is over. The recent massacre of innocent young adults at Lekki is another black eye for the old leadership that have been in power for decades with no credible solutions and no empathy towards the nation’s residents.  It is outrageous that our so-called leaders will not invest in our young adults so Nigeria can come into the 21st century with a Fourth Industrial Revolution framework.  Gunning down protestors because they want a significant change of pace and direction in the country is unconscionable, unethical and pure 100% evil.

This is the time for a New Nigeria not just in the Federal Republic of Nigeria but within the Nigerian Diaspora as a whole. As I have always stated, the GABA Plan is rooted in linking the wealth between the U.S. and the African Diaspora at large. We have to become more serious about an economic movement rooted in vision and execution to link Africa, the Caribbean, and local Black cities in the U.S to send these so-called leaders packing and make room for our young adults to take control,” said Akindele Akinyemi, the President and CEO of the Global African Business Association.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GLOBAL AFRICAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION CONDEMNS RECENT ACTIONS OF THE MINNEAPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT AND SUBURBAN WHITES TEARING UP THE INNER CITIES IN THE UNITED STATES

ROMULUS, MICHIGAN (June 2, 2020). The Global African Business Association condemns the actions from suburban Whites using the George Floyd police brutality incident to stroke more chaos and fear into Black communities.

“What happened to Mr. Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police Department was just another day in the neighborhood of racist White folks on the police force pretending to protect and serve. Now these same racists have brought their family members from the suburbs into the mix by coming down to the inner city at night creating chaos. Moreover, disgraceful U.S. President Donald Trump is weak and pathetic on stopping domestic left and right-wing terrorist groups from tearing up our inner cities as well as being extremely tragic on criminal justice reform as it relates to the police. His Justice Department is as serious as Disney. It’s real clear that America has fallen and other nations will rise to take its place behind the lack of leadership and scholarship. This is why African nations must be ready to heed the call of economic empowerment to assist Black people here in the U.S.

This is the time for us, within the African Diaspora, to start becoming more serious about an economic movement rooted in vision and execution to link Africa, the Caribbean, and local Black cities in the U.S. As America continues to fail due the to the lack of leadership we need to start moving forward with creating our own African supply chain system and supplier development to build a strong economic ecosystem that will create sustainability within our own local communities. This is not the time for our faith based leaders, academicians, African business owners or African political leaders to be silent in this chaos. Instead it’s time for us to takeover communities that are struggling and convert those communities into 21st century global hubs of commerce.” – said Akindele Akinyemi, the President and CEO of the Global African Business Association.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GLOBAL AFRICAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION CONDEMNS RECENT IMMIGRATION BAN FROM THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION

ROMULUS, MICHIGAN (February 2, 2020). The Global African Business Association is condemning the actions of the Trump Administration for placing additional African nations on the recent travel ban. Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan and Tanzania have been placed on this ban.

“Election season is upon us here in the United States and in order for President Donald J. Trump to stir up his electoral base he decides to enact another travel ban by placing additional African nations on this ban. Nigeria is a key economic partner with the United States and by placing an immigration ban to divide families, disrupt the K-1 Visa Process (Fiancée Visa), ban the family reunification visa process as well as blocking the diversity visa towards nations like Tanzania and Sudan will create confusion, disharmony and scare potential investors away from the United States. We, in GABA, support these visas as an alternative to court potential investors to help rebuild local urban communities in the United States not just with human capital but with financial capital to reboost the tax base, create new entrepreneurship and help develop stable cashflow with families paying taxes to support our local urban economies. We urge the U.S. Congress will act by passing the NO BAN ACT bill and push for a serious comprehensive immigration reform. We ask that our State Legislative Black Caucuses, County Commissioners and local urban City Councils stand with GABA by passing resolutions in their respective state chambers condemning this action by the Trump Administration. Racism, xenophobia and ignorance should not play a role in the 21st century, especially towards Africans.”

GLOBAL AFRICAN BUSINESS ASSOCIATION SUPPORTS HB 4275, THE MICHIGAN CROWN ACT

ROMULUS, MICHIGAN (FEBRUARY 19, 2021) – The Global African Business Association is in full support of House Bill 4275, the Michigan CROWN ACT. This bill was reintroduced into the MichiganHouse of Representatives by Michigan State Representative, Sarah Anthony (D-Lansing). CROWN is an acronym which means Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair. The bill seeks to ban race-based hair discrimination. The bill specifies that hair is a trait historically associated with race, including hair texture and protective hairstyles.

“This is probably the most important bills that we need to pass right away to ensure the protections ofthose who decided to wear their natural hair. It’s absurd in this day and age for Black women to feelpressured to use excessive heat, chemical relaxers and weaves to conform to European standards ofstraight hair. House Bill 4275 is not only important to those living in the State of Michigan but is alsofollowing a national trend to prohibit such actions against those who choose to wear a natural, braids, locs, twists, and knots. We have many in the African/Caribbean community at-large that would not onlychampion such a bill but also work towards its passage since we have many in our community that havework in the hair industry”

– said Akindele Akinyemi, the President and CEO of the Global AfricanBusiness Association.
